Why You Should Keep the Faith When Home Buying And How it Landed Us to Man O’ War's Old Stomping Grounds with His Powerful Business Woman
Have you ever started your home search and thought you were never going to find that special home?! Check out my video below on why you should always keep the faith while house hunting in the Lexington area. Maybe house hunting is similar to the great Man O War. He was always on a mission and very eager to win and had some great folks guiding him along the way including a woman during the most lucrative part of his career which most people don’t realize. House hunting in today’s market can seem like a fast moving horse race but you gotta stay the course. Join me as I take it back to my childhood stopping grounds. #lexingtonky #sharethelex #LexingtonRealEstate #lexingtonrealtor #manowar #horseracing #myoldkyhome
Hi, Kim Soper reporting live here in Lexington. Just wanted to say hi. It is so hot in Lexington today. Oh my gosh. It's like 93 degrees, but Hey, no sweat it's summertime. Actually. I'm kind of sweating so nevermind, but it's hot. We love it. So I just wanted to report live and let you guys know, I'm so excited about this place and the reason I am, and my buyer is too is because we didn't give up hope. So when my buyer came into town, we looked at several properties and we really just didn't find anything that we wanted at the time. But on the last day before he left town, we canvassed a certain neighborhood and we found that special property. So we're here today and what's so cool about it, It's located in North Lexington. It has some land, little under two acres, and it's on the old Haylands farm and Haylands farm.
It was a farm that Elizabeth Danigerfield had. So if you get a chance, Google Elizabeth Danigerfield, she was pretty cool in her own, right. So in the 1920s, after Man O' War, the greatest race horse of all time was done racing, he returned home here to Lexington and this is where he began his stud career. And Elizabeth Danigerfield was over his breeding, like who he was going to breed with and to be a woman and then, especially in that time period, that was huge. She obviously knew what she was doing. She was more than prepared. She was capable. And it's such a cool story to know that at that time, a woman was in charge of everything, Man O' War was the greatest race horse of all time and still considered that today and worth millions of dollars in the 1920s. So, um, she took care of his breeding career.
So her farm Haylands farm, where I am today, such a cool like place and it's kind of cool vibe cause it's on the cusp of all the retail and shopping in Lexington. But yes, Google Haylands farm, Google Elizabeth Danigerfield. And you can read about her. Even I think the New York Times or the Post, one of them even did articles about when Man O' War was returning to Kentucky, he was returning to, Haylands farm. I don't think Man O' War was here on this farm long, but you know once Sam Riddle bought his property Faraway farm that's where Man O' War moved to just a few miles from here. But Elizabeth Danigerfield was the one that helped Man O' War's owner Sam Riddle find that property as well. So she, she was with it at the time. So anyway, just reporting live. Moral of the story is when you're looking for a property, never Lose hope, keep the faith cause it's out there. It may not make sense in the beginning, but when you find it, it'll all make sense and be extra special. There's anything I can help you with. Let me know.
