Lexington Real Estate Scene Feels Like Moments From Hollywood!

I love Kentucky. I make that no secret. As my home state, I love to embrace our rich culture and that includes our world famous horse industry.

Being that I am in the horse industry selling farms to those who have horses, who race, breed and compete, I often have an array of clients from around the United States who move to Lexington, Kentucky and Central Kentucky to find just the right spot for their horse operation, or in some cases, those who want a quiet and peaceful retreat for themselves and horses.

On Friday, I had a client in from the West Coast. They have owned horses for nearly their entire life and decided Kentucky is the place they want to call home. They mentioned their all-time favorite movie was Secretariat. You know the Hollywood blockbuster a few years back about one of the most famous horses of all time? In case you missed out on this great horse, Secretariat records still stand today, nearly 40 years later.  To read more about him click here.

Taking a break from looking at farms in Secretariat's home town of Paris, Kentucky, we enjoyed lunch at the newly opened Grey Goose in downtown Paris. They are located in the historic Vardens pharmacy location. It was awesome walking in and seeing all the Secretariat memorable on the walls. We enjoyed a relaxing lunch while chatting and catching a couple of races on TVG. All in all, we had a great time. And then, it became one of the best days yet!

The next house we looked at after lunch happened to be the house that was owned by the family that took care of Secretariat. We were standing in his Vet's house. Truly cool! All the memorabilia was one- a-kind. The vet has passed away a couple of years ago but we enjoyed visiting with his wife. She had all kinds of great stories. With her stories, I could picture myself being on Caliborne Farm with Secretariat. Wait, doesn't this stuff only happen in Hollywood movies? Nope, chalk it up on the cool Lexington scene! Instead of 6 degrees of separation like Kevin Bacon, Lexington and this area is more like 2 degrees! Saying we were captivated is an understatement!

We had great day house/farm hunting and a wonderful visit to Paris that turned into something we will remember for the rest of our lives. That is the great thing about house hunting - as daunting as you might think it seems to find the perfect place - it is the stories, the moments, the laughs that make house hunting one of the best times of your life. Memories that will last a lifetime! So take good notes, relax, laugh and enjoy the moments.
