Lexington KY's Downtown Grocery Store And Deli is Shorty's Market
Have you discovered Shorty’s Market? This neighborhood grocery store and deli is a Lexington treasure in the heart of downtown across from Cheapside Park. The food market provides urban residents and employees with common staples and organic alternatives. Shoppers will find fresh produce including bananas, salad greens such as spinach and hydroponic butter lettuce, bell peppers, potatoes, and even celery. Prepared salads range from Caesar salad, chef salad, and mixed greens with salmon. There is also a Lexatonia salad made with bibb lettuce, fruits, pecans, blue cheese and topped with bourbon dressing. Cheesecake, brownies, chocolate cake, and oatmeal raisin cookies were the tempting desserts on display during a recent visit.
Shorty’s Market also has a full service deli with a selection of made-to-order paninis, wraps and sandwiches as well as traditional and off-beat homemade deli foods.
Visitors can also browse the back of the store where they’ll find packaged foods, cleaning products, pet food, and even an ice cream cooler. And no visit to Shorty’s Market would be complete without stepping inside the bank vault. The market is in a former bank building and the large safe with the big round door has been preserved. It is now used to house coolers of fresh and frozen food.
This popular urban grocery is one more reason to move to downtown Lexington Ky. There are currently about 75 homes and condos for sale within a half mile of the store. Buyers will find anything from a trendy new loft condo to a gracious historic home. Contact me to learn more.
