Get the Derby Spirit in Lexington Ky!

Everything you need to prepare for a fabulous Kentucky Derby can be found right here in Lexington! Here’s your guide to local shops that supply all the Derby necessities to make for a fun and festive day:

Fashion

Show up in style on Race Day with new clothes from Lexington’s boutiques and shops.  Howard & Miller and Stuart Mercer are sure bets for the men, while winning looks for the ladies can be found at Bella Rose and Monkee’s. Women can accessorize with jewelry, purses, scarves and more from L.V. Harkness. Top off your outfit at the Keeneland Gift Shop which carries Derby hats for both sexes.

Cigars

Now is your chance to explore the Fayette Cigar Store, a Lexington institution for decades. Located in a historic building at 137 E. Main Street, the store sells a wide assortment of pipe tobacco and cigars seven days a week.

Chocolates

Stock up on decadent sweets with a visit to Old Kentucky Chocolates, which is celebrating its 50th year in business. Discover Chocolate Thoroughbreds, which are a confectionary combination of caramel, pecans and chocolate. Other treats include Derby Mints, and Bourbon Cherries, Chocolates, or Truffles.

Desserts & Pastries

Traditional Derby Pie is trademarked and sold only by Kern’s Kitchen in Louisville and can also be found in the freezer case of your local Kroger. A Lexington version can be purchased at Missys Pie Shop, which sells a May Day Pie made of pecans and chocolate chips. Martine’s Pastries makes pecan bars that are positively addictive and would travel well on Race Day.

Party Supplies

If you are hosting a Derby party or a pre-race brunch L.V. Harkness has a colorful selection of equine-themed table linens, serving items, and barware. While you’re there, be sure to pick up some mint julep cups.

Wine and Spirits

Stop by a locally-owned liquor store to choose a bourbon for mint juleps as well as wine or Champagne. Wine + Market sells local bourbon including Four Roses and a selection from Buffalo Trace distillery.

Feel good knowing that you supported locally-owned Lexington businesses while getting everything you need for a wonderful Derby Day celebration!
