Famous Kentucky Castle Hits the Lexington Real Estate Market!
Look what just came on the Lexington Ky real estate market! Castle Post, the famous castle on Versailles Road just past Keeneland is for sale with an asking price of $30 million.
Originally known as Martin Castle, the iconic three-story 12,000-square-foot fortress has all the bells and whistles one would want in a castle. It’s a distinctive estate with twelve turrets and four corner towers enclosed by a 12-foot stone wall. The mansion has ten bedrooms, a two-story foyer, a home theater, an elevator, and a commercial kitchen. There is a library, game room, bar, ballroom, and extensive woodwork throughout. Castle Post sits atop a hill on 55 acres and also has basketball and tennis courts. Read more about this $30,000,000 listing here.
The castle was built 45 years ago when Rex Martin and his wife Caroline were inspired after traveling to Europe. Construction began in 1969 but was still incomplete when the Martins divorced in 1975. It sat empty for decades until Miami lawyer Thomas Post purchased it over ten years ago. The castle was extensively renovated in 2008 after a fire in the main building. For the last several years Castle Post has been operating as a bed and breakfast and a wedding destination.
