'Chevy Chase Inn Day' in Lexington was 82 years in the Making!
Later today Lexington Mayor Jim Gray will proclaim today as "Chevy Chase Inn Day" to honor this locally owned 82 year old Lexington business. Plain and affordable, the iconic Chevy Chase Inn is much beloved in Lexington. Known as CCI, this bar is cool precisely because it doesn’t try to be hip and trendy. Said to be the oldest drinking establishment in town, it opened in 1932 as Prohibition was coming to an end. Originally named the Blue Goose, it is a classic neighborhood joint where nothing is fancy or pretentious. It even has pinball machines! Cold beer is served in cans and snacks include chili dogs and pickled eggs. Mixed drinks are known to be strong, which may be why some of the regulars have been frequenting this watering hole for decades.
Located on Euclid in the Chevy Chase neighborhood, it is close to many other favorite locally-owned businesses. These include Chevy Chase Hardware, Morris Book Shop, Bourbon n’ Toulouse restaurant, and John’s Run/Walk Shop.
Chevy Chase is a popular neighborhood in large part because of its thriving retail center that is within walking distance for most residents. Less than a mile from downtown, the area is also very close to the University of Kentucky campus, and a couple of hospitals. Two parks, Ecton and Woodland, are also convenient to this subdivision.
About 1200 people live in this development, and most of the 600+ homes are 50-100 years old. Current homes for sale in Chevy Chase in Lexington Ky range from $267,000 to $1,300,000. Contact me to learn more about living in the area and for help finding your dream home.
